Originally from Great Barrington MA, Julia (she/her) is a Brooklyn-based, multidisciplinary artist who creates intimate stories for audiences of all sizes. Her current research looks at the worth of a human being in relation to our cultural practices around the use of time/space and fear of death. She strives to make works where those involved create their own shared and unique vocabulary—a language or music that allows for an investigation into how we quantify human life and what sort of containers we build to hold our collective and individual grief
She most recently directed, designed and built “Pxxl Party: Are You In Or Out?” a collaborative theater piece that examines pool access as an intergenerational form of social currency, and escapism. You can listen to her interview podcast “The Grand Exit” about people’s relationship to dying, on all podcast platforms. Her short film “Outer Space Love Story,” received the “Audience Award” at Brooklyn International Film Festival and is currently in pre-production for her short “The Living, Living” about memory, mistakes, and how to live with the looming loss of our mentors.
Julia holds an MFA in Acting from Columbia University and is also a professional home organizer.
